Transform your garden with our expert landscaping services in Brisbane

Landscaping services

Our landscaping services provide an inexpensive way to improve the energy efficiency of your home, enhance the appearance and value of your property and provide additional screening for privacy. Plants can be positioned to protect your home from the harsh extremes of the summer sun and the chilling winter winds, reducing the need for artificial heating and cooling.

The al fresco lifestyle is becoming increasingly popular as people take advantage of outdoor areas to entertain guests and enjoy the great weather. This has led to a surge in the number of people renovating their yards. Our landscaping services team in Brisbane can make outdoor living a reality for you by providing professional landscaping solutions.

Low-maintenance gardens

A successfully landscaped garden will be practical and aesthetically appealing. You should consider the following lifestyle factors when planning your garden: the purpose of your garden will determine what needs to be included in your design so that the area will work for you and your family; children and pets will need areas to play and exercise; and if you like to entertain you may need both an adequate dining area and a barbecue.

Do you have time to spend in the garden or would you prefer one that is virtually maintenance-free? Do you need a fence, wall or hedge for privacy? Work out the amount of work you're willing to put into your garden.

Our landscaping services team in Brisbane will be more than happy to discuss your needs and design a garden that is perfect for you.

Timber fencing

Where timber fencing is required, we supply and install treated pine paling fences with a variety of options to choose from including colonial tops, Windsor tops, paddle pop tops, cropped corners, cut to a point and standard batten tops. We use only good quality treated pine with batten screws for rail attachment and good quality fencing nails to ensure a long-lasting, good looking fence for your property.

Some of the popular variations include:

  • Exposed posts – posts visible from the footpath that generally have knobs on top, often painted a different colour to the palings to highlight them.
  • Three up or five up – usually colonial, Windsor or paddle pop top palings with a straight top line except at the posts where they step up three or more increments to a peak, often done in conjunction with exposed posts and knobs on top.
  • Butted up – palings are attached to the rails side-by-side with very little or no gaps. As the timber dries out the palings shrink slightly, and you will end up with a small gap between the palings.
  • Lapped – palings are nailed onto the rails with an overlap of about 25mm. This is done to eliminate gaps completely and is common around pools and other areas requiring privacy and/or noise reduction.
  • Arched top – the top line of the fence is arched with the low points being at the posts and the high points at the middle of each panel.
  • Scalloped top – curved top line opposite to 'arched' with high points at the posts and low points in the middle of each panel.

Chainwire on hardwood

This consists of treated pine posts and rails with heavy galvanised or PVC chain wire stapled onto it. This style was popular many years ago, and it is making a comeback due to a combination of appearance and relatively low cost. Several variations are proving popular including the provision of an additional top rail.

  • Wire size – usually 2.50mm or 3.15mm
  • Mesh size – the most popular choice is 50mm or 60mm
  • Height - the standard choice is 900mm, 1200mm, 1500mm or 1800mm, although heights up to 3600mm can be produced upon request. 3600mm is usually used on industrial sites for security purposes. Check with your local council for the maximum fencing height allowed for domestic properties without having to ask permission. Most councils allow fencing to a maximum height of two metres before council approval is required.

Be aware of who you use for fencing. The lifespan of a timber fence has a lot to do with the materials used and the experience of the fence builder. Many of our customers come to All Fencing and Landscaping with horror stories, after spending thousands of dollars building their fence with other providers only needing to replace it a short time later.
